If you can't, read on . . .\n\nTry looking online for Industrial\/Wholesale Container Suppliers closest to you or visit a local flea market or thrift store. You might find something perfect for your needs.\nWhile you're searching and testing, given the choice, select a fat bottle over a thin one.<\/strong><\/big><\/p>\n&nbsp;\n<p class=\"hedz\"><big><strong>Next, and VERY IMPORTANT . . . Be sure the Jar or\nBottle has straight vertical sides.\n( Not wider or narrower at the top or bottom. No \"Taper\" )<\/strong><\/big><\/p>\n\n<div><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"max-width: 100%; height: auto;\" src=\"http:\/\/antipills.com\/labels_only\/straight-side2.jpg\" \/><\/div>\n&nbsp;\n<p class=\"hedz\"><big><strong>A jar or bottle that's wider at the top or bottom will wreak havoc on your attempts to\nget a rectangular label applied.\nThe ends will curve up or curve down in a weird way and\nend up looking Awful. Go for straight-up-and-down sides.<\/strong><\/big><\/p>\n<p class=\"hedz\">'Got the container you want to test out ? Excellent ! Time for . . .<\/p>\n&nbsp;\n\n<hr \/>\n\n&nbsp;\n<h2 class=\"hedz\"><a name=\"step003\"><\/a>STEP 003 - Working Out Your Label Size<\/h2>\n<div class=\"floating-box-200\">Once you've settled on a container to test out, grab a piece of standard Copy Paper.\n(The most popular U.S. paper size is the \"Letter,\" the familiar 8.5\" x 11\" used in all offices across America.\nIt's also known as \"A\" size.\nIts European counterpart is A4, which is close: 8.3 x 11.7 inches or 210 x 297 mm.)\nTurn the sheet on its side and fold it against the face of the container so that it's about as tall as you think your final label should be.<\/div>\n<div class=\"floating-box5\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"max-width: 100%; height: auto;\" src=\"http:\/\/antipills.com\/labels_only\/tape-on_paper_wrap.jpg\" \/><\/div>\n<div class=\"floating-box-200\">Tape one end down, and wrap the full piece around the container close and tight.\n\nDepending on the container you're testing, the edges of the paper may not meet up at all.\n\nThat's good news.\nIt means you won't have to \"squish\" the width of your label.\n\nAnd since you know the copy paper is 11 inches tall, you can go as wide as 10-3\/4\" ( 27.3 cm) with your label. Hopefully.. The Height will work out too.<\/div>\n&nbsp;\n<div class=\"floating-box5\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"max-width: 100%; height: auto;\" src=\"http:\/\/antipills.com\/labels_only\/no-overlap_cool_paper_wrap.jpg\" \/><\/div>\n<div class=\"floating-box5\">\n\n<big>If the edges DO overlap, then mark off where the end of the paper touches, and then give yourself about a thumb-width gap\n\n( no need for rocket science accuracy here, seriously )\n\nand draw a straight line vertically.\n\nCut the paper along that line and Voila! This is your Test-Label size!<\/big><\/div>\n<div class=\"floating-box5\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"max-width: 100%; height: auto;\" src=\"http:\/\/antipills.com\/labels_only\/over-lap_paper_wrap.jpg\" \/><\/div>\n&nbsp;\n\n<hr \/>\n\n&nbsp;\n<h2 class=\"hedz\"><a name=\"step004\"><\/a>STEP 004 - Re-Size a Copy of Your Label Image To Fit Your Bottle<\/h2>\n<div class=\"floating-box5\">Let's imagine your folded test paper measurement is 4-3\/8 inches high by 11 inches wide.\nFirst thing to do is some \"rounding off\". Why make this harder?\n\nI'll call it 4 inches by 10-3\/4 inches ( 4 x 10.75 if some paint program asks ) I don't want to resize my image to 11 inches, 'cause that's too wide to PRINT on.\n\n10-3\/4\" at least allows 1\/4inch (0.635 cm) before the edge of the paper.\n\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"floating-box5\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 324px; height: 324px;\" src=\"http:\/\/antipills.com\/labels_only\/multi-sizes_test_label_montage.jpg\" \/><\/div>\n<div class=\"floating-box5\"><small>(Nobody is going to take a micrometer to this and hit me with a fish if I don't print EXACT measurements. There are , doubtless so many, many better reasons to hit me with a fish.)<\/small>\n\n\"Close enough\" actually WORKS for a comedy item. And remember,\nthis is a TEST. You can print as many shapes or sizes as you feel you need to\non any number of bottles or Jars until you find the sizes that are just right.\nSo . . .You'll need to open up a copy of your label image and re-size it\nto the dimensions you came up with using your container.<\/div>\n&nbsp;\n<h4 class=\"hedz\">I can think of three ways you can re-size your image :<\/h4>\n<div class=\"floating-box5\"><span style=\"color: #ffff00; background-color: #3366ff;\"><strong> 1. <\/strong><\/span> Do a google search for \" Image Resizer \" and check out the various\nonline applications you can use to upload the file, re-size it, and download it\nagain. (Snoozefest of stuff you don't need to know below this line.)\n<small>Look for one that let's you save your result at 300dpi in the\n.PNG ( portable network graphic ) format.\nPNG is not perfect for Print, but it is a lossless image compression format\nand it won't degrade a picture as fast as the .JPG format will after a lot of\nediting and re-saving.\nIf you run into a site that asks for \"Pixels\" as a measurement, no worries.\nThere are a bunch of online pages that will do those calculations for you as\nwell. Google search: \"inches to pixels\" or \"centimeters to pixels\", and they'll pop\nup like prairie dogs on pixie stix.<\/small><\/div>\n&nbsp;\n<div class=\"floating-box5\"><span style=\"color: #ffff00; background-color: #3366ff;\"><strong> 2. <\/strong><\/span> If you don't already have one, Download a FREE graphics program from your favorite\ntrusted freeware site, install that and re-size the image on your own machine.\nGoogle Search: \"Paint.net\" - A very good, free paint program. Simple and easy to use.\nAnother place to look for free and simple image re-sizers is CNET Downloads.\n\nBeing able to use your own program for this means you get more skills and you unlock\nthe...\n<span style=\"color: #993300;\"><strong>\"Anim5 must think no one knows how to do this stuff but him. Who does he think he's talking to?\"<\/strong><\/span>\n...achievement. \ud83d\ude00<\/div>\n&nbsp;\n<div class=\"floating-box5\"><span style=\"color: #ffff00; background-color: #3366ff;\"><strong> 3. <\/strong><\/span> Turn to your friend who's good with these sorts of things and say . . . Hey!\n\n\" If you re-size this file of mine - I'll give you a Trillion Billion Diamonds, a\nCaptured Unicorn Soul, a Space Ship and . . .\n\nTWO metal cans of 12-year-old spackle putty that I found rusting in my garage! For Realz! \"<\/div>\n&nbsp;\n\n<hr \/>\n\n&nbsp;\n<h2 class=\"hedz\"><a name=\"step005\"><\/a>STEP 005 - Print Out the Image<\/h2>\n<div class=\"floating-box5\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"max-width: 100%; height: auto;\" src=\"http:\/\/antipills.com\/labels_only\/printed_label_with_brushes.jpg\" \/><\/div>\n&nbsp;\n<div class=\"floating-box5\">You don't have to have the highest quality paper available, but I use\n100% Recycled Multi-purpose Paper. 24-lb. stock. It's thicker than low-budget copy paper.\n\n\nSet your Print orientation to \"landscape\".\n\n\nPrint the label out at \"Normal\" quality. (That's what I do. When I try printing at 300dpi on my little HP inkjet, the\nthing throws agony fits and I get \"banding\" lines. So I print the pics out at 150dpi\n\"normal\" quality and they turn out just fine.)\n\n<small>Another Tip: If you're handy enough with your graphics program, and your final label size allows it, try putting two labels on the same sheet. It will save time and paper.<\/small><\/div>\n&nbsp;\n\n<hr \/>\n\n&nbsp;\n<h2 class=\"hedz\"><a name=\"step006\"><\/a>STEP 006 - Seal Both Sides of Your Label BEFORE You Cut It Out<\/h2>\n<div class=\"floating-box5\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: auto; height: 400px;\" title=\"Any Quality Hairspray as a FIXATIVE \" src=\"http:\/\/antipills.com\/labels_only\/hair_spray.jpg\" alt=\"Any Quality Hairspray as a FIXATIVE \" \/><\/div>\n&nbsp;\n<div class=\"floating-box5\">\n\nAfter waiting about ten minutes for the ink to dry completely, I hit the print with a couple of sweeping shots of\nhigh-quality hairspray as a fixative.\n<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">This may be an optional step for you depending on the quality of your printer.<\/span> But I've found it helps keep my print from streaking or smearing when I brush on the sealant.\nA light, even coat of high-quality hairspray prevents this.\n<small>\n( I recommend high-quality hairspray because cheap hairspray does not \"mist\" well. It has a poorer chemical binder and a more caustic carrier\/solvent.\nYou may even end up with a 'spatter' pattern of discoloration on your print rather than a smooth initial sealing coat.\nDo yourself a favor and get quality hairspray for this if you're going to try it.)<\/small>\n\n<\/div>\n&nbsp;\n<div class=\"floating-box5\">\n\nNext, make the label more durable and water resistant by applying the sealer.\n\nI use a popular \"scrap-booking\" sealant called 'ModPodge'.\n\nIt's non-toxic, water-based and it won't make your AntiPills bottle smell like a\nfurniture repair shop or gas station the way oil-based or polyurethane based sealers will.\n\n<small>( I've done many home-made gifts over many years . . and the MOST embarrassing ones\nare the projects that smell like \"Pine Goo\" when they're unwrapped. It's just not worth it! )<\/small>\n\n<\/div>\n&nbsp;\n<div class=\"floating-box5\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"max-width: 100%; height: auto;\" src=\"http:\/\/antipills.com\/labels_only\/modpodge.jpg\" \/><\/div>\n&nbsp;\n<div class=\"floating-box5\">\n\nI prefer the Matte finish version of Modpodge, but you may want to try the\nGlossy finish version just to see if you like it better. Or . . . You may have a scrap-booking\npaper sealer that you SWEAR by and use all the time that I've never heard of. \ud83d\ude42\nUse that then, obviously. And please send me a note about what it is.\n\n\nBrush on a single, thin coat of Modpodge, or your clear-drying\npaper sealant of choice, and let the Label sit for an hour. ( I let the Label sit overnight to\ncure and dry thoroughly, but I don't think you have to really wait that long ).\n\n\nNext, Do the same on the reverse side. ( Yes . . . coat <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">both<\/span> sides. You'll be using\nRubber Cement to glue the Label to your container . . . and Rubber Cement can\nleach into your printed image from the back causing a \"bleach\" effect if the paper isn't sealed.\nI found that out the hard way.)\n\n<\/div>\n&nbsp;\n<h3 class=\"hedz\"><span style=\"color: #993366;\">Once Both sides of your printed label are dry, carefully cut it out and set it face-down on a clean surface.\nI usually set it down on wax paper since the next step is...<\/span><\/h3>\n&nbsp;\n\n<hr \/>\n\n&nbsp;\n<h2 class=\"hedz\"><a name=\"step007\"><\/a>STEP 007 - Glueing the Label to Your Container<\/h2>\n&nbsp;\n<div class=\"floating-box5\">I use Rubber Cement.\n\n\nRubber Cement has a very strong odor and should only be used in a well-ventilated area.\n\nIts disadvantage is the strong and possibly Dizzying smell.\n\n( If you can, get a fan blowing\non you when you use this stuff.)\n\nIts advantage is that you don't have to work fast with it and it adheres paper to glass or plastic\nlike a champ!<\/div>\n&nbsp;\n<div class=\"floating-box5\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"max-width: 100%; height: auto;\" src=\"http:\/\/antipills.com\/labels_only\/rubber_cement.jpg\" \/><\/div>\n&nbsp;\n<div class=\"floating-box5\">Grab the top of your container and brush a single THIN coat of rubber cement all the way\naround the outside of the jar or bottle.\nTry to brush a little past where you know the label\nis going to be positioned... be wide and sloppy with it! This is part of what will take care\nof the edges . . . you'll see.\nNext, a THIN coat of rubber cement for the entire back of the Label also. Be sure you get some on the edges all the way around. ( Brush PAST the edges onto the wax paper )\nNow.... wait about 5 minutes.\n( You could actually wait for an hour if you needed to... this stuff would still work.)<\/div>\n&nbsp;\n\n<hr \/>\n\n&nbsp;\n<div class=\"floating-box5\"><a title=\"Click to enlarge\" href=\"http:\/\/antipills.com\/labels_only\/jewel_cases.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"max-width: 100%; height: auto;\" src=\"http:\/\/antipills.com\/labels_only\/jewel_cases_TN.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n&nbsp;\n<div class=\"floating-box5\"><strong>Tip for Getting the label on pretty close to STRAIGHT :<\/strong>\n<big>Look for items you can use that will stack next to your bottle and remain flat.\n\nI use thin CD jewel cases.\n\nStack them next to your container so that a single pile\ncomes up to the point on the container where the\nbottom edge of the label should be.<\/big><\/div>\n&nbsp;\n<div class=\"floating-box5\"><a title=\"Click to enlarge\" href=\"http:\/\/antipills.com\/labels_only\/jewel_stack.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"max-width: 100%; height: auto;\" src=\"http:\/\/antipills.com\/labels_only\/jewel_stack_TN.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n&nbsp;\n<div class=\"floating-box5\"><big>Make two stacks . . . Spread them out wider than your container and set the bottom edge of your label down on them.\n\nBalance the Label upright with the outer ends resting on the stacks.<\/big><\/div>\n<div class=\"floating-box5\"><a title=\"Click to enlarge\" href=\"http:\/\/antipills.com\/labels_only\/levelling_diagram.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"max-width: 100%; height: auto;\" src=\"http:\/\/antipills.com\/labels_only\/levelling_diagram_TN.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<div class=\"floating-box5\"><big>Slide your container carefully toward the center of your label and let them touch.\n\nRun your finger gently up the center of the label.<\/big><\/div>\n&nbsp;\n<div class=\"floating-box5\">You should now have a thin line behind the \"Portrait\" segment of your label adhered to your container.\n\nAt this point, it's all over but the \"smoothing\".\nSet your thumb against the portrait and gently, but firmly sweep it back and forth over the Label, letting it wrap and fall and follow the curve of the container all by itself.\nWhen you reach the edge,\nleave it and smooth the other half of the label down.\n\nNow return to the edges of the Label and smooth your thumb out onto the glass or plastic.<\/div>\n&nbsp;\n<div class=\"floating-box5\">You'll find that the dried Rubber Cement there, bunches up into stringy, dry crumbly bits.\nSet the Container aside for another five minutes or so.\nWhen you come back to it, you can firmly smudge your thumb out and away from the label's edges, clearing the glass or plastic of the glue.\nThe Rubber Cement has dried more thoroughly where it was exposed to air . . . and the resulting \"Crumbs\"\ncan be easily brushed off.\nGive the Bottle or Jar a light once-over with a cloth or paper towel, Unscrew the top, fill it with some candy.
